Isaac

Isaac Fast Facts:
-Isaac is 3 years old.
-Isaac loves puzzles and has been labeled “ridiculously advanced at puzzles” by an occupational therapist…a point in which his mama takes particular pride.
-Isaac can be so quiet that you are not quite sure where he is until you find him hiding behind your bed assembling a puzzle.
-Isaac can be such a wild screech monkey that you might end up making panicky phone calls to his father to hurry home from work because you need a little relief from the madness.
-Isaac could live on bananas and avocados alone. He likes to eat with a fork, even things you don’t normally eat with a fork, like sandwiches.

-He loves the alphabet and numbers.  His favorite toys right now are magnetic letters and letter and number cards.

-Isaac has recently been evaluated by the Center of Preschool Special Education and started attending a Special Needs Preschool this summer.  He loves it.

-Isaac’s speech is quite delayed and he can get pretty frustrated when communication breaks down. He rarely makes eye contact and often prefers to ignore new people altogether.

-Isaac also has some quirky sensory processing needs and will also see occupational and physical therapists.

-We have not yet taken Isaac in for a diagnosis and we will probably wait a little while before walking that road. We think that he too has Autism Spectrum Disorder. Andrew’s doctor tells me it’s pretty likely to occur among siblings, especially brothers. As long as Isaac is getting the services he needs, we don’t really need a diagnosis yet.
- Isaac loves to paint and play in the sand.
- Isaac is known in our neighborhood for being the little boy with curly red hair. And I must say that that is another point in which his mama takes particular pride.
- There is something so thoroughly adorable about Isaac. It’s hard to pin down exactly what makes him so wonderful. He’s such a hard little worker, a determined train-track builder, a rocketing energy ball. The way he walks around and talks his jargon and sees things so differently from the way I do…it’s all just so fascinating…and beautiful, really. His mama is one really, really lucky lady.
