snow day

Today is a snow day. It snowed about 8 inches over night and we woke to school closings which kept both the boys AND Dave home today. The boys had only just returned to school yesterday and so this snow day makes their Winter Break feel like a 16-day-long oasis with a day stuck in the middle for me to tackle toy organization and do some frenzied cleaning. So today while not making snow angels and tossing snow balls at each other, the boys are easily finding their new toys in freshly labeled bins on their toy shelves. It’s my most successful toy organization feat to date and perhaps deserves it’s own blog post where I can truly highlight for you the extent of my homemaking neurosis. ;)

Also yesterday I developed a new journaling tactic. I dropped my daily journal habit in mid-October and I’m ready to pick it back up with some changes. One change I’m making is the time of day. I’m going to take a wack at being an afternoon journaler…a just-before-the-bus-gets-here journaler. And I’m going to be adding a photo to each of my entries. Dave gave me a polaroid camera for Christmas which prints adorable 2×3 stickers that I can easily add to my journal entries.

I’ve been thinking goal-setting, New Yearsy thoughts the past few days. Thoughts I’m hoping to flesh out in a way that will lead to progress and moving forward and those good New Yearsy intentions.

But…since this winter break just extended itself…for now I will alternate my time between warm cups of tea and romps in the snow.

Lovely weekends to you all!!

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.
