December Daily: Days 1-3

And we begin!

I like doing a few days of this journal at a time…instead of one every day. So, this morning I sat down to put together the first three pages. And here they are:

We always start advent with getting out the Christmas train. We have a Polar Express replica complete with a disappearing hobo! :) The boys always love setting it up, playing with it, jumping over it…and fighting about it! This year’s fight was about who would be “odd” and who would be “even”. Isaac insists on being “odd” because 1 is an odd number and that would make him first. He also claims that as a five year old, he SHOULD be odd…because his age is odd…and Andrew, at 8, is hopelessly even. At one point I had him in “time out” explaining that he can’t *always* be odd! Sometimes Andrew gets to be odd too! ??? Strange thing, parenting.

On a calmer note, on Day 2 I started this year’s Christmas cards.

And last night I had a great idea that we could put a simple wreath together for an advent activity. But it turned out to be in no way simple. Sigh. I told Dave that I am trying so HARD this Christmas to not try too hard. And he assessed that it looks like I need to try to harder.

And with that, I give you days 1-3. :)

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

So glad you are doing Dec. daily…that is how I “discovered” you, last year. I am looking forward to your posts…and have been loving the train photos. I hope the magic of the season is with you all. Great story about odd and even!
