This weekend we went hiking. The weather can’t decide if it wants us to wear to winter coats and hats (as we needed a few days last week), or if we are fine in sweatshirts. This past weekend, sweatshirts were plenty.

I love the pairing below. It’s SO them.

Exuberant Andrew and moody and thoughtful Isaac.

And Good-Sport Dave. :)

Isaac’s had a LOT to say about the change of seasons lately. He keeps showing me trees that have yellow and orange leaves on them and then he tells me “the summer fell off of this tree.” Which, actually is true. He and I read about leaves changing in the fall, and we learned that leaves are ALWAYS their fall color, but in the Spring and Summer chlorophyl covers that color up with green. In the fall, the levels of chlorophyl decreases and you can see the leaves’ true colors.

When we come across a bare tree, he tells me that “the fall fell off this tree.” And then at one point, he sat down in the leaves, looking up at the trees and said “let’s wait for winter.” ha! NO WAY, kid. :)

I remember a few years ago, Isaac tried getting the leaves back up on the tree when he saw they had fallen off. How far he’s come in his arboreal understandings.

It was a lovely day for a hike and I’m loving this sweatshirt weather. Hope it holds on a little longer!

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.
