one room tour: living room

Some things fell into place this week that helped me put the final touches on the living room. And now I’m ready to share!

This living room has a lot that is different from our last one. New couch, new rug, smaller space and different coffee table. This room was the hardest to put together. There was no clear way to set it up. The obvious space for the living room had a sliding door on one wall and doors and closet along another wall. We knew we needed to block off the area using the couch as a divider…but it took some finagling to get it to all work.

And I think it does!!

The most recent addition was the two stools. I ordered them from ikea and they arrived on Monday. The stools can be used as seating or as tables…and I think we needed that versatility. Our last coffee table was too big for the space and the boys couldn’t help themselves but leap from the couch to the coffee table to the chair, since everything was so close together. I was worried something would break, so I decided I just needed to rearrange things. We still have that table, but it’s no longer an inviting place to jump.

It’s small, but I really like it. I think the yellow rug really makes this room fun. The photos on the wall are from a few photo shoots we had done with Tabitha Sherrell…and since I just received a CD of our most recent shoot (from July!)… I have plans on getting some more recent photos up! But…so far so good! :)

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

Love the new sofa/rug combo. And I totally want to see that wall in five years plastered with amazing photos of your family over the years.
