thank you notes

Isaac and I worked on some thank you notes last week. He wrote ‘thank you’ on a piece of paper and I got some photos of him holding the paper. Which was tricky…because he was only *so* into it. And no one photo was the money shot….so…I went with four. I think the set together is adorable.

I was thinking about communicating through photography as I put these cards together. And I feel like I use photography to say a lot about Isaac specifically. He’s can be so reserved. He’s such a quiet, quiet guy….and he really keeps to himself. But with us, he can be a total nut. He’s chatty (he went on and on about the calendar this morning for 20 minutes straight. “there are NOT 31 days in February. February 31 is March. On december 32 it’s a new year!”) and silly and clever. And so I feel like when I take pictures of him…I can get more of his personality and share it with people.

Though his shy and reserved side is scrumptious too.

On the inside he wrote a simple “thanks Uncle Chuck!” (or Aunt Tara, or Caitlin, or Kirsten…) and “Love Isaac”…and then I added another card. I love these thank you notes! I think they turned out great. :)

Have a great weekend! Here’s hoping for sunshine!

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

Those cards are so creative. I love them! He is just adorable!

  2. LOVE the thank you cards too, Robyn – especially with the four shots together like that. And you know, I never thought about this before, but now that you mention it, I think your photography really DOES convey your boy’s personalities. Maybe that can explain how I feel like I know and love them as an aunt would love her nephews, even though I’ve never met them in person. Interesting.

BTW, I plan to meet you and your little family someday. Someday…

Those are absolutely brilliant cards! The four shots together are so effective. You certainly have a talent for photography and capturing the personality of your subject, I’m so pleased you are taking it forward on a professional basis. GOOD LUCK!
