Isaac and the Quilt: a photo shoot

Two years ago, I bought the fabric for this quilt when I was giving my bedroom a makeover. But…I never got around to using it.

Last year, when I was working full time, I carved out little 20 minute blocks of time at the end of the day to do A LOT of cutting and piecing and sewing….just to work with my hands a little. It felt simple and easy and calming.

Two weeks ago, I got out all of the blocks I made and decided to go ahead and finish this one up. We could use a new blanket to be our watching-TV-and-snuggling blanket. The one we’ve been using is quickly falling apart.

Two hours ago, I finished it! Before I even finished, it had already been snuggled with, picnicked on and used to wrap up a rascally four year old burrito-style. It seems my kids (and…well…me) don’t see what’s the harm in using a quilt that isn’t quite finished. :) Well, now it’s done!.

As you can see, Isaac played a starring role in the photo shoot. Hopefully, you can see the quilt too. ;)

Have a great weekend!

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

As I said on instagram, I love this quilt and can imagine how long it took to cut, piece and sew it all together. So worth while and I reckon it will be a well loved and used quilt. Well done Robyn, it’s beautiful!x

  3. Isaac is so stinking cute! And you know I’m a huge fan of that quilt. I can see the pattern of the light blue much better than I could in Instagram. Did you quilt around each individual square?

    • Robyn says:

I did! Isn’t that crazy?! It took forever! But I really like the effect of it. :)

      Thanks Deb!!

And that light blue pattern is REALLY hard to see…I forget it’s there…I think if it were white or a dark color it would be more obvious. But I do think it helps it feel more organized. :)

I do like that quilt – it screams out “Use Me!” I am sure it will be a real favourite. Isaac is a super cute model and that end photo is precious. Well done. By the way, I’m Rhons’a sister and I follow you via her blog page.
