Santa’s Village

There is an amusement park in New Hampshire called Santa’s Village. Dave used to go there as a kid, and was excited to take our boys there last summer.

But, man. Santa’s Village is weird.

I don’t particularly like hearing Christmas music in the middle of summer. And a lot of their “holiday” stuff was “other” stuff that they altered to look more Christmas-y. Like the dinosaur that they painted green and stuck a red nose on and called it something like “Rudolph-osaurus”. I remember feeling mildly nauseated for the first 30 minutes or so of our time at Santa’s Village. This place was SUPER cheesy and a little annoying. And when I confessed my discomfort to Dave he said “that’s the point! It’s suppose to be cheesy and annoying!” Which, I’ll admit, helped a little.

I don’t remember fully embracing the Chirstmas-theme-park concept, but in the end, it didn’t matter. Because we weren’t there for me to love it. The people Dave wanted to share it with, thought it was among the best places they have ever seen.

And when they are having a great time, it definitely improves the photos. ;)

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

  1. Haha. Oh, Robyn, I love your honesty. And that is a great layout there too!

  2. Miss Vicki says:

Embrace the cheese!! Did you go there as a child when we lived in NH? Do I have pictures of that?
