Black and White Cookies

They take a long time…all the cutting out, baking, frosting…

and they’re always a little on the messy side, even when I’m trying pretty hard to keep things tidy.

But, oh my, are they good.

I used a recipe from this cookbook. They don’t have that cake-y lemon cookie that Black and White, usually have (want the cake-y lemon cookie? this cookbook will help you out!), but the shortbread/sugar cookie base on these guys is super tasty. And the chocolate frosting? oh so good.

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

  1. Have I told you lately how much I love your food photography? No? Well, I love your food photography, Robyn.

Your weekend photos in that foggy forest were pretty awesome too!

I knew I should have just waited for the blog–I spent last evening and my coffee time this AM looking for a recipe for these. Most have you start w/ a chocolate cookie (see “Big Oven”) and was a LOT of work. These also have a lot of steps but they look fabulous!! Do your cookie consumers appreciate the work involved? I have found that my consumers (co-workers) do not even think about it! But they do appreciate the product.
