pink and purple superhero cupcakes

Saturday was Tess’s Superhero Birthday Party. (Her actual birthday is today! Happy Birthday Tess!!) Kirsten asked if I could bring the cupcakes (or…I asked if I could bring the cupcakes…you know…it was one of those conversations…’I don’t have cupcakes yet’…’I can bring some!!!’….’okay, that would be great!’) and so I did!

I used the recipe for Killer Chocolate Layer Cake (found in this cookbook)…which calls for soda AND lots of sugar. For the soda I used some root beer that Dave had made the night before (he has a Soda Stream…which he uses almost daily…mostly just to make seltzer though)…and the cupcakes were sweet…but VERRRRY good. :)

Then I swirled on some pink and purple frosting and called it a done deal.

Well…except for some clip art I used to decorate the whole thing.

THEN it was a done deal. :) And everyone seemed to like them…especially the ones I saved for my resident taste-testers!

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.
