December Daily: Days 10-12

And three more days have been lived, recorded and added to the album.

I used to have a hard time finding seasonal things to add for each day and stuck in a few “everyday” types of pages…well…that’s not really happening anymore. These kids (ahem…and their mother) do SO MUCH Christmasy stuff…it’s not been hard to find something each day. The only trouble is Dave. ;) As usual! He’s always the least represented. If only he played with Christmas toys or made the Christmas cards or sung more Christmas songs. Maybe he and I need to have a little talk. ;)

On the 10th I was a Christmas card MACHINE. Just sayin’. (On the page I wrote “This year’s Christmas card: washi!” to record that I used lots of washi tape. I wanted to explain that for folks that don’t know what washi is. Mom, that means you. ha!)

Andrew has been in charge of bringing lots of Christmas music into our home. Everyday after school he practices his keyboard and he told me that his music teacher is having him and another little girl play piano in the holiday assembly! So now he’s practicing *extra* hard with a pretty motivating end in sight. I am so excited and proud of my little booger.

And Isaac’s been playing with our two nativity sets. He doesn’t really understand the story, but at least he’s being exposed to the cast of characters: a baby, some kings, some animals…and…um…Lucy.

Tomorrow is Andrew’s Gingerbread Party and 4 of out of his 6 classmates are definitely coming…with one maybe and one I have not heard from. So it’s bound to be a good time!

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

I can hear those little fingers playing carols….that you made it large…that I can see the little color dots to help those fingers touch the right keys….that it makes me remember those years when my children played. They will be grown and out of the house before you realize it…and you will yearn for those little fingers playing carols. Thanks again for the memories. Lovely work.

I love that your pages are so Christmassy -I’m afraid mine still have a lot of the everyday. Love that Andrew is playing the piano, I wish one of mine had learnt (or that I had) .
