Halloween Banner

On Sunday it was rainy and we were hanging out at home when I mentioned to Andrew that maybe we should make some Halloween decorations.

He jumped to his feet, full of ideas. He wanted to make a banner of robots holding pumpkins. But not just any robots…pop-up robots with interactive pieces. He babbled on about tabs to lift and how the robots would change and move when someone did this or that to the banner.

oh boy.

So, we sat down with paper and Andrew got right to work. I gave Isaac paper and he painted a few pumpkins. Andrew was still spinning ideas and trying to make things work just so.

Not sure where he got the idea to go over the top with paper. Baffling, really.

He made one pop-up robot and then after all of that work, agreed to draw some simple robots for the banner. I cut some pumpkins out of felt and put it all together yesterday.

It was hanging when the boys got home. And they loved it…though I think Andrew still wishes it was more interactive. :)

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

Oh he is so stunningly marvellous, isn’t he? It is amazing to see how they have both matured while I have been following your blog – and how much they have changed physically. I love Andrew’s halloween ideas, he really does have a mechanical mind doesn’t he? (oh I don’t mean his mind is mechanical I mean he has a mind that like mechanic…….but you knew that didn’t you?)

I love your banners! We haven’t made one in a while- maybe I’ll steal this idea. Enzo is totally into crafts.

What says Halloween more than robots holding pumpkins?

Andrew, you just make us fall in love with you more and more!
