a good year

This past school year was a really, really good one. And I have learned, to NOT take that for granted.

I was really happy with Andrew’s “last day” picture…and when I went back to find a “first day” photo, I found a hilarious series of the-most-excited-kid-ever. I love seeing these two pics side by side. I can see so much growth in the way he looks AND the way he just is. When Isaac saw these two pictures side by side he mentioned several times that Andrew has a blue backpack in one and a red backpack in the other one…a detail I totally overlooked. :)

Here’s to good school years, good education and finding the places that give you the settled sense of belonging.

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

He really looks as though he has grown a lot – I love his exuberance in the first shot!

Jacob also finished first grade in June. Couldn’t have been more proud when his teacher came up to me the last day and said “he’s ready!” She meant he’s ready for second grade… it felt like much more than that for some reason. I could have sworn she was as moved as I as was….
