it was hot

We spent our Fourth Of July in Brooklyn Bridge park. We met our friends there, shared picnic fare and lounged in the shade.

Andrew brought his magic set to preform a few tricks and amaze the crowd…and when they asked how he did it, he responded with the line we rehearsed over and over: “It’s magic!”

Andrew and Tess rode the carousel.

and there were lots of sweets to eat.

The kids were dying to go to the nearby playground. So, eventually, we did. This photo of the adults sitting in the shade cracks me up. Yup. It really was SO HOT.

But Andrew and Isaac knew exactly what to do to beat the heat.

Then we went to the Brooklyn Ice Cream factory for MORE sweets! :) Cold ones. Andrew’s ice cream trick is to take a bite off the bottom of the cone. It’s a TERRIBLE idea. I don’t recommend it. And yet he does it just about every time.

It was a pretty good holiday! Even with the heat and even with televised fireworks. :)

Hope yours was a good one!

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.
