I have a sidekick with me this week. Isaac is tucked away in his summer program during the day and Andrew is still home. His summer program starts next week. Until then he’s been quite the sidekick. He’s been helping clean, fold laundry, go grocery shopping, and today?

Bake cookies!

My mom and I used to do this trick to make mulitcolored cookies…we’d cut out the middles and swap them all around. This concept totally blew Andrew’s mind. I love blowing his mind. :)

I also blew his mind today when he asked how grandmama became a grandmama and I explained that she became a grandmama when his Aunt Tara gave birth to his cousin Dillon. He was spinning over that for a good ten minutes. ;)

Oh the tricks up my sleeve.

Have a very happy Fourth. May there be multicolored cookies, and sidekicks that are blown away by the trivia you’ve learned. ;)

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

ummm….thanks! You could always make them in the shape of maple leaves for Canada Day….I’m sure that would make it MUCH easier. ;)

mmmm… here in the province of Quebec, we don’t really celebrate Canada Day (but we do take the day off!) On June 24th, we celebrate St-Jean-Baptiste day and our provincial flag has fleur-de-lys (lily?) on it. I’m not sure that would be easier either!
