Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

This year I actually sort of feel like a Valentine bum. Usually our apartment is be-dazzled in hearts and I have crafted up a storm of pink goodness to mail out to friends and relations…but this year…it just didn’t happen. What DID happen though, was the boys made some pretty rockin’ valentines.

Andrew decided to make pop-up Valentines. He was VERY particular about what parts of the Valentine would pop up and how it would work. He made 14…which for pop-up, homemade Valentines is A LOT…and he still had to be picky about who he could give them out to.

Isaac stamped hearts and x’s and o’s onto paper which I cut out, and attached a mini-photo-collage, seen below, on the back. There were only enough of these for grandparents. So I had to rig something quick for his classmates.

Here’s more of Andrew’s Valentines:

He used my alphabet stamps to stamp some of the words. This one is for his teacher.

Inside is a little robot holding a heart.

You can see here that the heart and the words are popping up.

And these are for Isaac’s classmates and teachers:

A simple photo collage that I stapled to the back of Winnie-the-Pooh valentines.

And that’s the scoop! Have a lovely, lovely Valentine’s day!

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

Loved our Valentines!! Such hard work! Oh, the perfect shirt on Isaac while he is sweetly stamping hearts onto paper!

I LOVE Isaac’s shirt! The full thing reads “All good things are wild and free. -Henry David Thoreau”. Perfect for my little jumping bean.

Happy Valentine’s Day! We feel like duds at this house, too. Eric is now throwing up, and I’ve barely regained the strength to be out of be for longer than 1-2 hours. Tess talked all weekend about the valentines she would make, and then I was too sick to make it happen. :( Ah well, not the best Valentine’s year here.

    We loved your valentine’s, though.

So funny to me that you feel like you didn’t do much. These pictures are evidence that you did a lot!! And the cookies! WAy more than me!

I was bummed that Valentine’s day was a work day for me- I didn’t do much, either. Not even pink pancakes.

Oh well. Enzo and I went for a walk at sunset, though, and the sky was pink, so we saw a a Valentine’s sky. (-:
