the end of dance season

Andrew only has a class or two left of ballet this year. And I’m all reflective about his time in ballet. I feel some relief at this season ending. The schlep to get there is no joke, and sometime in February, Isaac took note of this and starting protesting our Friday afternoon outings. So now, not only is it a busy, somewhat nerve-wraking shlep, but we’re doing it with an adamant protestor. sigh. I’ll be glad to take a break from that Friday afternoon trip!

But I feel some sadness about it ending too. Andrew has enjoyed every minute of ballet class. He never once protested about going. He never got upset during class and he didn’t cause *too* much trouble. Andrew still has low muscle tone. He’s still sort of all over the place and not all that aware of his body. But he IS stronger now. And ballet has made him concentrate on his body a lot. I can’t help but think that it is really helping him.

And so, we signed up for more classes next year. :) And I have some time to figure out what to do about Isaac…because making him make the trip to just sit there while his brother is in class might be too much to ask from him for another year.

We love ballet!

About robyn

I stopped teaching Kindergarten in 2005 to become the mom of two crazy boys here in Brooklyn. At first I thought being a stay at home mom meant that I needed to pour all my time and energy directly into my sons, but I realized somewhere along the way that being a rockstar mom meant not only taking good care of my boys, but also taking good care of myself. And taking good care of myself means pursuing something creative...just about everyday. I started Made In Brooklyn to motivate myself in my creative goals as well as share my work with others and perhaps inspire them in their own creative journeys.

Super cool page. I love that you were able to take photos during the class. Not always possible to do that here.

  2. What a fantastic layout, Robyn! Your choice of photos really tells the story. I can only imagine how boring that whole thing is to Isaac! LOL. Ooooh…and I want Andrew to get into yoga so bad!!!

    Maybe Isaac could dance too?
