Last week was winter break around here and here are some Rice Family highlights:
Everyday the boys’ had “Project Time” and building with cardboard boxes was a favorite activity.
Andrew made a chain-of-events machine. You put a penny in a hole, which pushes a ball a ramp, which goes down the tube and lands in a net, etc.
When we asked Isaac what he made, he said “a cardboard box!”
Andrew is a member of the Young Scientist’s Club and gets science kits in the mail twice a month. He used project time one day of winter break to work on his fossil kit.
He made plaster-of-paris molds and experimented with both mold and cast fossils.
On Thursday Dave took off of work and we went to an indoor water park. This was clearly the boys’ favorite “Winter Break” activity.
They also played a LOT of minecraft. :)
And we went to the science museum.
This past weekend was really beautiful, so we went for a mini-hike in Staten Island.
We had a pretty good winter break…though honestly I am pretty glad the kiddos are back in school. Mama needs some space and some quiet to think her own thoughts for a while. ;)
